A one-team approach to safety on the ramp: the Stobart Aviation, London Stansted story

11:00 - 11:30

Looking out for the safety of your colleagues and competitors is a way of life at Stobart Aviation’s London Stansted ground operation. The station’s ‘all for one and one for all’ approach to safety earned ramp operative, Steve Mitchell the Ramp Safety Award at GHI’s Pride of Ground Handling Awards last November. Steve seized the initiative when an aircraft being pushed by a neighbouring handler lined up for take-off with an unsecured hold door. He radioed the tower and aircraft with the warning and prevented a major incident. Judges praised his actions as ‘emblematic of a strong safety culture and something that our entire industry should seek to replicate.’ The session will discuss how we replicate ramp cultures like Stansted where safety is everybody’s business.
